People across cultures have long assigned meanings to flowers, and one culture's meaning could — and often does — differ from that of another. For that reason, Youquet relies on meanings supplied in The Complete Language of Flowers: A Definitive and Illustrated History by S. Theresa Dietz and The Old Farmer's Almanac: Flower Meanings — The Language of Flowers.
Because some flowers share meanings, Youquet has made consistent flower choices for particular traits — so those choices will be consistent across all Youquets.
